CORE TWEAKS

I feel like every group that has played the game for a while and started to expand their collection of decks sooner or later decides it is time to tweak the Original 12 decks here and there. The reasons can vary quite a bit but most groups have them, the so called: CORE TWEAKS

Deck: Boba Fett & Greedo

Boba Fett Tweaks

Orange base deck

Greedo Tweaks

SUDDEN ARRIVAL
Move Greedo adjacent to any character. Then Greedo does 1 damage to all characters he can attack. Playing this card does not count as an action.

Explanation

Giving Boba the orange deck instead of that weak yellow deck he initially received gives him two more attack and defense value each including the precious 5/1 card. The orange deck usually is reserved for force sensitive shooters but Boba is a bad-ass and it gives him a strongly needed boost without touching his talent cards. Greedo of course needed a little more tooth as well so we pimped his SPECIAL with a little bit of DD that can

Deck: Mace Windu with Clone Troopers

Mace Windu Tweaks

4x MASTERFUL FIGHTING
A6. Draw a card.

2x WISDOM

Explanation

Mace Windu already is a good deck. Adding 2 MASTERFUL FIGHTING and increasing it to an A6 makes him even more bad ass right from the beginning. So you can play him a little more aggressive right from the start and don't have to play the turtle game just for loading up BATTLEMIND. He still has plenty of movement and drawing.

Deck: Count Dooku with Super Battle Droids

Count Dooku Tweaks

3x GIVE ORDERS

Move Dooku up to 4 spaces.

Then move Super Battle Droid 1

up to 4 spaces and move Super Battle Droid

2 up to 4 spaces.

Draw a card.

2x FORCE PUSH

Push away any adjacent character

to Dooku in a straight line until

that character hits an obstacle.

That character receives 2 damage.

Explanation

There was a time I was way more concerned about how unrealistic the wording for this FORCE PUSH action was but nevertheless it makes more sense to push a character away a certain path instead of moving him/her to any space. Same with damage when hitting something. With 2 DD it feels like it finally is a good card. It also gives him a way to cause a little more damage besides TAUNTING.

The 3 additional card draws also gives him a very strong drawing game. Overall those are just some small changes but they make him more fun, versitaile and fun to play.

Deck: Yoda with Clone Troopers

pic1248124.jpg
Yoda Tweaks

FORCE STRIKE

A8. Draw a card.

Explanation

Some people hate how feisty he is. They hate his long game and the big power defenses. We love all that but always felt he was missing the might to deliver the final blow. With two A8's he finally is able to finish games on his own.

Deck: Darth Vader with Stormtroopers

pic1248124.jpg
Darth Vader Tweaks

2x LIGHTSABER THROW

Choose a character Vader could attack with a blaster. That character receives 2 points of damageand cannot move next turn.

2x YOUR SKILLS ARE NOT COMPLETE

Choose any opponent. That opponent must reveal his/her hand and discard all Special and Power Combat cards.

1x ALL TO EASY

A9*. *If this card is not defended against, the attacked character takes 20 damage instead of 9.

2x WEAPON PULL

D*. *Vader takes no damage and attacker cannot attack Vader again until after his next turn.

0x FORCE DRAIN

Explanation

Everybody knows Vader is far from perfect. But he is our Vader, always has been and I don't intend to replace him. With those changes he became much stronger, more aggressive and fun to play. Looking at him now though I probably would remove one YSANC card again and strip him of one FORCE CHOKE to give him back his 2x FORCE DRAIN. With those two super stong defenses I may would replace the healing with some movement or drawing as he lacks both. Of course the card needs a new name then.

pic1248118.jpg

Deck: Han Solo & Chewbacca

Han Solo Tweaks

NEVER TELL ME THE ODDS

Han does 3 damage to all opposing

characters he can attack.

Then you may shuffle your discard

pile into your draw pile.

HEROIC RETREAT

A6. After attacking, you may move Han up to 5 spaces.

Chewbacca Tweaks

IT'S NOT WISE
Move any character adjacent to

Chewbacca up to 6 spaces.

That character receives 3 damage.

Explanation

As this deck already was pretty great they only reveived minor changes to adjust to many of the stronger expansion decks. 1 DD increase in Han's special, 1 attack value increase for his attack and the possibility for Chewie to create a little more breathing room for himself with additional movement (to other characters).

pic1248118.jpg

Deck: Jango Fett & Zam Wesell

Jango Fett Tweaks

Orange base deck

1x KAMINO SABER DART

A9. If the defending character is

destroyed, draw 3 cards.

0x FLAME THROWER

Zam Wesell Tweaks

SNIPER SHOT

A3*. *The target receives double any

damage from SNIPER SHOT.

Explanation

Jango receives the same base deck upgrade as Boba. Makes sense to me. Tough call to remove the iconic FLAME THROWER but KSD gives him one game changing attack that does actually more for him.

SNIPER SHOT gets a needed rewording that makes the card more effective, not just when it is not defended at all. Now Zam can cause a little more damage and is a more valuable support to Jango.

The Others:

Explanation

Those other deck did not receive any changes.

Obi-Wan: I know many people will hate it but as it is my set I honestly don't care much. We always liked Obi the way he is and especially that he has a very strong deck. Honestly in all the expansions he definately does not stand out as he may once did inside the O12.

Emperor: Was always one of my favorite decks and even though we stripped him a little bit of his power with our house rules, he still is competitive and much fun to play. Maul: Same for him, he has a great design and always is fun to play. Only his super weak minors can be anoying at times but no need to do a Tweak in my mind.

Anakin & Padme: Interestingly this is a deck I never cared for. I never liked it much and it almost never gets played by our group. I believe many in the ED community enjoy him quite a bit and most don't Tweak that deck as well.
